SUMMER CAMP 2007 NOTES
We will meet at the Youth Center at 1:00 PM on
Sunday June 17th. We have a lot of gear to get loaded and we need
everyone there on time. We will need parents to help
get all the scouts and their gear up to Camp Karankawa. Please get
with me to let me know if you can drive. You will need to
eat lunch before going, because they do not serve lunch and dinner will not be
until 7pm on Sunday.
I must have everyone’s Health
Record before we leave on Sunday. This includes
fathers that are staying over night. If you went to camp
last year then check with me to see if I have it. Some of them
were lost last year. If this is your first
year at summer camp then we have to have your record for you to be
able to go to camp. Camp Karankawa allows no exceptions to this
rule.
Friday Night is family night and
the big campfire ceremony.
You can get there anytime after 6:00pm. The campfire starts at 8:30
so you will need to arrive and eat and the boys will have to be
ready to go to the campfire ceremony by 8pm. Dinner will not be
served for the Scouts unless you make reservations by Wed. Dinner
is from 6:30 – 7:00pm and the cost is $6.00 per person. I recommend
that you bring something up for your family to eat. Remember that
you will not be able to drive into the campsite so bring something
that you can carry in easily. Also there is no electricity or
facilities to heat up any food.
We do ask any parents that come up
during the week to please bring ice for our water
coolers and drinks. If you would like to bring some sodas for the
boys you can as long as you bring enough for all the boys.
It is best if all clothing and towels
are marked with your Scout’s name. When they are dirty or wet on
the line they all look alike. We want everyone to go home with as
many clothes as they came up with.
